Monster S2R 800, 2006 model in need of CPR

Hi All,

I own the above-mentioned bike,

She's barely got 1,390 miles on her as I've garaged her for most of her life, as I was starting a family and a business that took up most of my free time.

Long story short, she's DOA. Before I take her to the dealer, I'd like to try and revive her myself,

I have already drained the gas tank and gotten a new battery, the tires feel and look OK, no flat spot.

Can anyone please suggest steps to follow/take to get her running again?

I tried starting her but didn't insist.

Any information is welcomed, thanks in advance,

Symptoms would help.

Lights?

Gage sweep?

Starter turns?

Empty the tank and replace the fuel filter,
replace the flange's O-ring
be careful when taking off/re-installing the quick releases, get 4 new o-rings for them too;
if you have a rear stand, lift the rear, take the plugs out, spray/squirt some engine oil and put in 4th or 5th gear and spin the wheel forwards, if no weird noises heard, drain the oil and replace the oil filter, keep battery on charger . . .

Fill with fresh 10W40 MOTORCYCLE oil and new filter,
fill the filter before installing it . . .
Once again, turn the rear wheel a few turns and listen again for any noises
put in neutral and key ON and hit the starter button, gauge needles SHOULD SWEEP from 0 to max to 0
DON'F FORGET to disconnect the battery charger;
engine should fire, if it doesn't fire, do not turn key OFF, check dash and see if CHECK engine light is ON

She basically chokes, all lights are on, nothing amiss there but she simply won't start...

How long was it sitting for? New belts might be needed soon too.

take the plugs out, brush them off well.  reseat them and put the plug wires back on and "grind" the connectors in a bit to make sure you have contact.

if the battery is charged up, make sure the fuel is pumping.  remove the air cleaner and try to start.  the throtles should smell like fresh gas if it is flowing.

shoot a little starter fluid in and see if it helps.

Having just de-mothballed a bike after 2 years of storage - the injectors can be a trouble spot.

One of mine was stuck. So in my case the bike would fire, but not keep running without me keeping some turn on the throttle and "didn't sound right".

Quick waive of the hand over the headers at the head exposed one was stone cold.

Pulled the plug in that one, and it was dry inside - so no fuel. I did the old school, crank the engine while looking at the plug to confirm/deny spark too.

I dug out that injector. A 9V battery is a perfect power source to test an injector. Run power to the injector and you should hear a click. Remove the power and you'll get a click again. Mine didn't click.

The first DIY step is to give it some taps. A few taps, really doesn't take much, with a plastic faced hammer freed my injector. Click click click.

Stuck it back in and we were runnin' again.

TL;DR - stuck injector(s) may be at play also
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

and that is the result of shitty fuel and not prepping the bike before storage.

always fog the engine and enrich the fuel before storing it.,
