Check your battery cables, make sure they're all tight, if they're loose, it can whack the ignition units.

Will do, could starting it on a charger also cause this?

did you have the charger set to a high amperage like a setting for jump starting a car? from what i hear, and my own expierence you shouldnt hook up a motorcycle to more than maybe 10 amps at the max. if my battery is dead i will hook up my charger at the 2 amp setting for a couple mins and it will fire after that.

No it's a 10 amp charger. I have a small battery and if i need to start it more than about 5 times (with out riding it)  the battery goes dead.
