software for ECUs

Been gone a few years and am jonesing for a bike. I used to have an S2R and had amassed an ultimate set of tools for it, including the VDST diagnostic tool. I sold it along with the bike a few years ago. Technoresearch has a new tool called the Socio. Has anyone used this? Is there not something now that will work with a smartphone and a cheap ELM327? On the lookout for an S4R or RS and will likely have a need for a software diagnostic tool.
