M900: changing filter without draining oil?

Fear not; this isn't what you think...
I changed the oil and filter over the weekend.  The drained oil runs all over the header and bottom of the case, so I usually wash the bike afterwards.  I was jacking up the the front of the bike so I could spin the wheel and clean, but misplaced the jack.  I put a dent in the filter canister before I noticed the jack was off.
The OCD in me wants to change the filter, but I'm not OCD enough to toss $60 of fresh oil.  So if I can change the filter without losing too much oil, I will.  So how much would I lose if I remove the filter without pulling the drain plug?

Yes, replace complete . . . that is what I would do

No leaks; everything seems fine.  It just looks a little ugly....

You will lose some oil, obviously what is in the filter and the oil in the galley leading to the filter.

I smushed it about 1/2"  I thought I might have crushed it to the point that it wouldn't flow oil, but I cut up the old one and there seems to be room.  I think I'm going to leave it alone and not look... :)

I'd leave it. By the way if you cover the exhaust with a sheet of aluminum foil, the oil doesn't pour all over it and smoke.
