Fuel filter

Today i changed the fuel filter on my monster 620, indeed it was very necessary.
The old filter was in my opinion the original one and that after 18000km!
It was very very dirty just one black mass, after i cut it in 2 with a saw.

I also noticed the breather and drain hoses where very dirty, like a white chalk like substance,
the drain hose was fully clogged i had to unscrew the nipple and with a very tiny screwdriver
opened it up a bit.

Not time to ride the motor jet but maybe my symptons at 3000-4000 rpm will be mostly gone,
because its less restrictive now in fuel delivery.

Are there any symptons that go with a clogged drain hose?

I can tell that the fuel filter change has eradicated the bad or lean running symptoms.
The bike runs much smoother now in the 3000-4000rpm range, no more stottering.
The old filter was badly clogged so irt restricted fuel delivery especially in the lower revs.

Maybe the clogged drain had also somthing to do with it?

Clogged drain, no.  Clogged vent yes.

There are two fittings on the bottom of the tank. One runs to the cap drain. The other is the vent for the tank, which runs up to the cap itself.

Like howie said, if the vent tube is clogged it will affect the performance.

Thanks for your replies, i think i got it now.
One exit under gastank is an overflow fuel drain, the big hole left at the filler opening.(wich was clogged)
The other is the vent exit that are the small holes in the cap itself with the small rubber extension.
