Bleed brakes - which configuration is easiest to bleed?

I love my brake lever FIRM  [Dolph]

Getting new lines and wonder if you have experience bleeding a stock Monster T-junction set up versus a full dual set up (versus a single to caliper + from caliper to caliper)



... and: how thick is a brake line? (for line/hose separator brackets)

I've not noticed any particular difference on bleeding between those hose types.

Monster 'T-junction at the top' style has the cleanest packaging, if it's sized properly.
Full dual is the easiest way to get the job done if you're doing it from scratch, a bit of a PITA to find safe space for the hoses.
The 'Single with a loop to other caliper' gives the most firm lever, as hose length is shortest, and not bad for DIY.
Flip side is it makes caliper removal/install more difficult, and the loop over the tire *must* be kept away from the tire.

Dunno what resources you have, I have a local hydraulic hose outfit do mine.
I have 'em install one end on a slightly over-long hose, I get the other end as a loose bit, then I mock up and fiddle with that, finding length and end orientation.
Then take that back to have the hose trimmed if necessary and the end crimped on.
For a T-style front brake, I'll have em put long hoses on a T with 3 end fittings as loose bits, then mock it up.

Not sure what masters you're using, but the radials are really bad about trapping a bubble due to the reservoir feed going in the side and the hose out the bottom.
They of course have the handy bleeder fitting on the radials.
Coffin and Goldline reservoir feed is on the top, and they can self-purge bubbles.

I'm ordering custom lines (through OPP Racing if he wants to) to fit my SF1098 master + '996' calipers. Fred made my current T-junction lines, but they are slightly too long over the T and slightly short below the T.

With my clip ons and radial master it was ~impossible to route the line over the triple and behind the headlight, as stock. It's now routed outside and under the headlight - not ideal, with the T making it cramped.

The Spiegler system has rotating fittings, so orientation isn't an issue.

.... do you know the thickness of a brake line?

OEM lines are 7mm diameter.

I suspect Spiegler would be very similar, not sure if there's any of those kicking around here.

My Spiegler lines are 7.6mm diameter.

BTW, I've always found the Spiegler folks to be super responsive.  Isn't every set made to order by them regardless of where purchased?  When I got my set I spoke over the phone and the custom lines were in the mail same day.

Thanks again  [thumbsup] I bought some 'hose separators' for 7-8mm. Those should work fine.

You might be right about Spiegler building them. I just got the impression from Fred that he made them since he immediately knew the configuration from my description.

If the order is worth anything for OPP Racing I'd like to support him.
