Thinking of getting one

With this info................. Any advice ..what to look for

Selling dune buggy in excellent working condition.
Engine is 1641cc and has less than 500km on new pistons rings and cylinders. Completely disassembled and rebuilt floors/frame, all new wiring. Beautiful aluminum slot rims. Great fun to drive! Have ownership in my name.

The bad... the paint isn't great, there a many flaws. Not currently licensed on the road but can test drive nearby. Rear seats have no seat belts attached. Have the belts though and are included.

The body is called a "Hunter" which is modelled after a buggy in the Thomas Crown Affair 1968 Steve McQueen film - it misses on several marks there but interesting nonetheless.

I don't have one, but always wanted one when I was a kid. The Manxes (Manxii?) are what normally come to mind.

Thanks for the reminder.  Evil

Says rebuilt floors/frame, I think rust is a major issue to look for.

Not many parts in total, but some replacements may be difficult to find.

As long as you're not in a big hurry, it looks fine!

My uncle used to build them. He terrorized me one time with me sitting shotgun. I was like 5 years old and I swear he had that thing on 2 wheels.

...he's dead now.

Back in high school a buddy had a Dearborn Deserter.

Made in Marblehead, MA. Had a VW motor, and was a hoot.
