Hi, just bought a virtually new (2400 mi.) 2001 Monster 750 in what looks like Fly Yellow. I live in Gig Harbor, WA., USA, and it's been cold up until this week, so have added only 500 miles to the total. Tires were 2011 vintage and have been changed for Conti. TKC 70's to ease travel on forest service roads. Put on an MRA windshield and Givi 25liter plastic hard bags (custom mount). Changed oil (15-50) and Ducati oil filter. Air filter was whiter than my butt. Tried to check and set belt tension, but the engine seemed rougher when done, so I trailered bike to Seattle Used Bikes, and let Pete check the whole thing over. Love to listen to people who really KNOW this stuff! The Ducati is my 20th bike, and I love it, as I have loved all but a few of the others. I'm 71, and had stopped riding about 8 years ago, after being rear ended in stopping traffic on I-5 freeway. Found I again have no fear, just well judged caution; I will try to stay out of traffic congestion, as road rage is just a blink away. Most of my riding has been solo around the Western US and Canada, and though I told myself this was a town bike, I have friends and Family around who will need visiting. This Forum seems well done, and I will contribute when I can. Thanks.
