Australian Motorcycle News featured this story about a ride from Alice Springs to Finke. I know Alice Springs is kind of in the middle of Australia but not sure what direction Finke is from Alice. They took a stock Desert X and added the optional 8 liter tanks and the bike followed the Alice to Finke race course which had been run two weeks previous. The rider left Alice and rode to Finke and then came back the following day with gas still remaining in the bike. 430 Kilometers. As they said the terrain looked like the desert in MAD MAX i.e. Red Sand. Impressive!
Maybe some Australians can help with where Finke is.
