hello folks,

just wanted to share how much fun my friends and i had yesterday. "car & driver" and "road & track" sponsored an event to test drive 6 sports cars in the canyons of los padres national forest. my friend's wife (anna) gave her husband (paul) , as a birthday present, a $1550 ticket to this fabulously fun day. my other friend dave also bought a ticket. i on the other hand rode my monster and followed them for the ride... [moto]

total miles was about 180mi. they were lucky to have their turn in the F430 on hwy 33 through the canyons. each driver had about 30-40 mins in each car. we all had a blast!  [clap]
pics and more details to come in my next post

Sounds like a nice day out.. I would do many a nasty thing to have a go in the Ferrari or the GT40. I would even (possibly) give up bacon.

For a little over 8 1/2 bucks a mile it better had been fun...

yea, too true. but judging from the smiles on my friends faces, it was worth it.

hey Nutts, yes very nice day out indeed. the moderators were very cool with me passing or leading or riding next to my buddies. and everyone (who had some balls) were able to get up to +100mi in the cars at times. the GT from what my friends said was like a freakin' wild animal. overall best looking one of the bunch as well. but the F430 was pretty much the favorite for a lot of . best sounding one was the gallardo.

You the old dude in the Lambo or what?

hehehe....no that wasn't me. but those guys were driving better than most of the younger guys. they were actually the ones we  chatted with the most. real car enthusiasts who've owned a few sporty rides in their time.

I'd give up bacon for a Ford GT.  [thumbsup]

well you could fry some bacon on the engine. my friends said you could feel a lot of heat from the engine inside most of the cars.

Umm...Me & the Duc got a little speeding ticket on Saturday...and it only cost me $5.80 per mile.   :-\

For the extra couple of bucks I would have rather been in a GT40 on a twisty highway.   [evil]

Looks like a lot of fun.   I is jealous.

Bacon, pffft.

Now that I think about it, I'd give my left nut for a Ford GT. Not like I'm having any kidlets or anything, what the hell.

Then I can be known as.....The Uniballer. With a Ford GT.

$1,500 may buy a lot of bacon, but that sounds like a dream day! I would love to have participated, even if it was just following along in my duc. Congrats!

He self corrected. read the whole thread. ;D

Considering it, even for a monet, was enough to warrant a "fail". I stand by my statement.

If I had a 'Monet', I'd sell it in a heartbeat and buy the damn Ford GT.
