First service on 696

What all is included in the first service on a 696?  How much does it cost?  Is it possible to do it yourself?

I found a used 696 with 1200 miles on it.  The seller said he did the first service himself.  Should I trust that he did it right?  Should I ask him to take the price of the service off of the bike?

first service is mostly just an oil change.  The rest is re-torquing all the bolts, checking & lubing the chain, etc.  I'd suggest having a good mechanic check it out, if you're not sure about it.  As far as price, that's haggling.   What are used 696's going for in your area?
