I recently purchased the Blackberry Pearl and its alright.  Im still under the 30 day trial period and Im eyeballing the Samsung Instinct.  I know its an iphone knock off but it has some pretty cool features and I think Sprints $100 for everything rate cant be beat.

Anyone have an Instinct?

highly doubt anything from Samsung can stop the Apple marketing juggernaut.  might be a decent phone though.

My Mom is a VP @ Sprint. Says they have been getting generally positive reviews, but a decent # of people are kinda unhappy with it - mostly because they dubbed it the iPhone killer and it's just not.  The thing that makes the iPhone special is really the app store.  It's taken a cool phone and made it amazing.  From what I hear, in terms of the "not an iPhone" market, it's one of the best though.

FWIW, she chose the BB over the Instinct, but that's also because she has nails.

I dunno. I was vaguely dissatisfied with the iPhone when I first got it.

Then I had to survive a 6 hour flight with the kids, so I downloaded about 12 hours of my daughter's favorite kid shows onto it from iTunes.

One video playlist later, and the iPhone has completely justified it's purchase price  ;D

I know two people that have it and they both love it.  But that being said, it comes with two batteries and they tend to need both if they're using it much.

But from what I hear, the iPhone isn't much better and doesn't exactly have spare batteries.

If you use it at all the 3G iPhone kills it's battery by about 8-9pm everyday

Not to threadjack, but this just isn't true.  I use mine all day for business and I've still got a pretty decent charge left when I plug it at 10pm.  Do you even have one?  Because none of the others on here are experiencing that.

ugh, my nerd sites and moto sites are merging.

i think the instinct looks to be a great phone, but have been reading about iPod/iPhone killers since the two were invented.  every phone with a touch screen that's been released in the last year was an iPhone killer.

that said, the instinct seems to have the closest feature set, decent OS, but appStore is where it's at.  it's made the iPhone what it was meant to be in the first place: a general purpose computer that happens to have a cellular antenna built in.

I do have one. If you are not in a 3G area all the time, or not using mp3/video/app playback the battery life with improve I'm sure.

I've found that I'll have to drop the data network to edge nearing the end of the day if I need it to last into the late night.

I have read great things about the Instinct.  I don't know if it can replace my Treo though.  I need my word, excel, ms office calendar, notes, and the ability to sync that all up to my home comp.  As far as I know Instinct and iphone don't do that so no good for me  :(

I would love to play with the Instinct just to see how it works.  but for now looks like I might have to upgrade to the Treo 800.

Riding out the threadjack here, but I guess I am one of the few that is actually impressed with the battery life with my 3G iPhone.  I have the gps off, but 3G is left on and a single charge can last me two full days if I recharge it from the wall socket and not the computer.  I think that is pretty good life considering all the bells and whistles this thing has going on, and considering that I only have a mobile and not a land line.
