Ok theres now way this thing can be worth 50 grand. I've seen the pics from jalopnik before, I'd put the drive train at about 12k most. The rest of the thing didnt he fab up himself? I mean he welded the entire frame together using tubing and its not like it has a killer paint job. Of course you can't put a price on the man hours he put into it though...

I'm calling bullshit on the 50-70k statement, 30 grand at most right there.

Depends on whether it has all the hydraulic actuators and control systems of the movie car, and the cockpit displays.  I work in aviation on glass-cockpit and head-up displays.  EICAS (Engine Instrument and Crew Alerting System) glass displays can run $2500k-$10k easily for off-the-shelf General Aviation light aircraft units... and mil-spec 12" MFDs (multi-function displays) are a little over $70,000 apeice (just for the hardware, not including custom software).  So, $50k-$70k is believable...IF the car is complete down to the cockpit displays and electrohydraulic control systems.
