and thanks to Donnie as well, for helping sort out this bike. I got this thing third hand off a kid who was scared to death of it, despite himself being an 'executive protection consultant'. Smelled like gas all the time, had fueling probs, otherwise a good bike. I rode it for a bit when I had the time but was never satisfied with it being a true Ducati experience so I modded it some, including the jet-hotted midpipe and exhaust and some minor bits like levers, etc but the midpipe mod made the fueling worse. After I'd had it about 9 months it started leaking what looked like oil from the horiz. cyl. base gasket. So I get on here and bum for a ride to the Ducpond because I knew my case required finesse. Gene came to the rescue. So we get the bike loaded and get there and unload it and then load somebody else's bike that Gene is helping out, and he's also picking up his M900, hoping to ride it on home. Nope, at the filling station I notice his rear tire is low and he gets off and sees the screw in his brand new tire. He's not happy. Back to the shop it goes. Well Gene I got one better than that. How about having to buy a new fuel tank due to some weird warpage @ the fuel pump flange? While my bike('06 S2R800 Dark) was at the Ducpond, I ended up buying 1)Termi kit w/ ECU & airbox 2)a new fuel tank, carbon front fender, seat cowl, and windscreen. When I dropped off the bike I also dropped off an Evo slave, an ERV3 chain & 43T rear & a pair of badass cored stock cans that I had done myself. Two months or so later I get the bike back, and of course it's a new bike. I didn't use the carbon Termis since I prefer the look if my BBQ paint cored stockers(which sound really good) and the windscreen didn't get used either since I prefer the Dart flyscreen, but I'm very happy with the results. Turns out it was the dirty gas from the leaking fuel pump flange pooling @ the top of the engine case and not a base gasket leak. Donnie set the fueling up and took care of some other items(belts, oil, etc) and checked the valves out. The bike now hauls ass and is a lot smoother and hold a proper idle. Thanks much guys, I would have posted up sooner but too busy riding it around and grinning. This was an expensive ordeal but worth it. This bike came off warranty as I bought it, so all this was on my $$$. A lot of folks would have cleaned it up and sold it off, it being just an little 800 but I had to see it sorted. I didn't get what you would consider a stellar deal on the bike to begin with either. Good times now though. [moto]

I like the exhaust. Spark midpipe? What kind of black paint did you use on the pipes? Spray-can? Pro?

The midpipe is a Quat-D, and the whole exhaust was sent off to Jet-Hot for matte black ceramic. The cored cans I painted with Rust Oleum BBQ grill paint. Pretty good stuff, you can really lay on a thick and even matte finish with it if you do it just right. Pretty durable too.
