Not even close. You've got to remove all of the plastic on the tank, remove the screw holding it on underneath the seat area, remove the screws holding it in the little rubber stopper thingie and sort of slide it out towards the back of the bike... Hit the ducati site and see if you can find the PDF of the parts catalogue. It has some great exploded diagrams. You'll see what I'm talking about. I can't find the link right now, but if you PM me with your email address, I can send you the pdf.

Ohhh, no-you are correct-the 696 is MUCH different/more difficult.
woulda been nice to have this few months ago-we removed all those thousands screws n bolts, 3-piece tank covers, then raised tank all to get to battery in order to add pigtail (homemade) with wiring to permanently sit under my seat now in order to more easily plug into battery tender AND to add power source for my IPhone. Still not correct "ends" IMO-have cigarette lighter end on it, too loseee for IPhone, comes undone while riding no matter how we have tried to secure it. Working on new finish/end wiring that can easily adjust/swap for tender or IPhone charger etc.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Thanks
