Well, I got a call from my detailer today, I was accepted into Submarine Independent Duty Corpsman school! The class starts July 25th 2008 and graduates October 9th 2009. I should be there sometime in the second week of July!
Congrats. I sailed on SSBN 608 for two years out of Guam, and a bunch of other boats that were out of Scotland between 1980 and 1984. Hope it works out for you!

Yes, I will be a submariner. On subs, there is only one medical provider. No doctors, no nurses, one person, an enlisted Hospital Corpsman with specialized training to be able to deal with just about any type of medical condition. All of this hundreds of feet below the surface with no contact to the outside world. That's one of the reasons the training is so long, it's VERY intensive.
I went to medical school with a former submarine corpsman. He knew his stuff.
Congratulations!

I was just walking next to Randimus today. He's 2 inches taller than me and he's 5'11".
If you're going to include me, get my height correct, midget!
I'm 5'11 11/17". Yes, 11/17ths of an inch.
Congrats, Chris!

So, anyone near the Groton/New London area?
Yeah, Groton is the next town over from me. Lots of good riding around here. Post up when you get here, I'll point you in the right direction.

CT is a small state....
i live on the opposite side of the state from where you're going to be,
and it would only take about an hour to get there...
the climate is very humid compared to where you're coming from...
i suggest A/C to acclimate your family...

The wife is currently looking into apartments in the Groton area. It's looking hard to find a place that accepts dogs let alone has a garage for the bike...
