I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

Love the Top! Back in the 70s I lived in Austin and worked in a bicycle shop and had a friend named Van Wilks. He had a great local rock and roll band named Fools. It was managed by the same management company that rode herd on ZZ Top. They even opened a few times for ZZ Top.

He steered Billy Gibbons to the bike shop once. BG wanted to buy his girlfriend a nice road bike... but it had to be purple. She was gaga about purple. We got him fixed up. He was a very nice guy for sure. Another music great that was a bike shop regular customer was Doug Sahm of Doug Sahm and the Sir Douglas Quintet. Also a great guy. RIP Doug!

One morning I went to Cisco's on 6th street for the best migas breakfast on Earth. Walk in and there was BG having his own plate of migas and a bloody mary. Damned if he didn't recognize me from the shop and invite me to sit and have breakfast with him. Couldn't believe it. Very cool breakfast. I won't ever forget it. [thumbsup] [bow_down]

Great story thanks!!...Sir Douglas I remember from the mid-60's...She's About A mover and Mendocino....his C&W was killer good as well

Yep, Doug was a hoot. Very funny, amped up guy. Brought his ancient tandem bike in to the shop and one of the guys that worked there was a HUGE Doug Sahm fan. He offered to completely rebuild and restore the tandem if Doud would let us all be in a group picture with him and the tandem in front of us. Of course he said sure. That pic was in our shop's ad in the Daily Texan newspaper (UT Austin's newspaper). Great memories. [thumbsup]

This trip doen memory lane made me once again pull up some youtube vids of Eric Johnson. Started watching his first group (The Electromagnets) play at the UT Austin Student Union on campus for a buck! He was 17 back then. Just make the beast with two backsing awesome kid/now grown man!
