An ardent second of the three above, with The Pogues as a friendly amendment. That's the core of the "Rocky Road to Dublin" playlist of shamrock punk on my iPod, along with generous helpings of Black 47, The Go Set & Siobhan. But at the moment, I'm really stuck on Southwest-flavored alt-Country, so am listening mostly to Calexico, Iron & Wine, Paul Sprawl (track down "Santa in the Desert" on the album "Blue Suitcase" for some awe-inspiring darkness at http://www.paulsprawl.com/paulsprawl.html), Robert Earl Keen, Giant Sand and Howe Gelb http://howegelb.com/. The last is one I keep hitting the replay on over and over -- his song "Get to Leave" has a great line ending the chorus:

On this planet made of rock,
hard liquor and discomfort
with rumors of a better world
Once we get to Leave.

I'm enlisting the talents of other alt-Country/twang rock bands to try to lure the 13 year old away from the pop country pap she dearly loves -- bands like the Bottle Rockets (she already plays "1,000 Dollar Car" and "Radar Gun" enough that even I'm getting a little sick of them), Drive By Truckers, Old Crow Medicine Show, John Hiatt & Lyle Lovett have started to catch her attention.

And for some reason I just can't listen to Uncle Tupelo's "Moonshiner" lately without hitting replay at least two or three times...

Right at this moment, I'm listening to Slayer's Reign in Blood.  In my car I have my iPod hooked up through my head unit, so I just shuffle and let it go.  It repeats a song about once every 3 months.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Detroit Rock City; The horn section takes the guitar solo and they freakin' nail it to the wall.
