Dang... if those scratches are as light as the ones in my SS, I'd buy this nicely discounted 1098!

A 2-month-old slipper clutch for $500?
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcy/855250911.html
Brad & Gray at MotoCorsa told me I should check into that one. Apparently they pulled it from the totaled Multi. I e-mailed the seller, but now I need to call Brad on Tuesday to find out which model of slipper this is, and whether it includes a plate set + basket, or if it's just the slipper that's being sold for $500.
Dangit... I am digging myself a debt hole that's gonna suck to get out of... need to stop looking for (and buying) parts...

Why do you need a slipper clutch?
My 749 does't have one, my SV doesn't either. My Mille has one, but its stock and not a "real" one. Slippers are nice for being able to hammer down the gears and not lock the rear wheel. If your finding yourself locking the rear wheel a lot, then maybe you need one. If your not, I would save your money for something more practical for your application.

I've got a Pit Bull front stand (the two piece type) that you have first dibs on if you'd like, Dan. $70.00
It used to belong to the legendary ToolFan The Great. Won't work on my Monster, my triple is too low. For me to hassle it to lift puts my bike at risk.

Well, a slipper clutch isn't a "need" by any stretch of the imagination... but yes, I do find myself regularly chattering the rear when hammering down through the gears while riding aggressively. Normal riding (puttering around town, Sunday tours, etc), I do a fine job of throttle-blipping and matching engine speed to rear wheel speed, but when we're out riding hard, and I come into a corner fast, I have to grab
fistful
of front brakes (3 or 4 fingers, clamped down HARD) to whoa that beasty... that much force on the brake lever means Dan has no fine motor control left for throttle blipping, and the result is lots of rear tire chatter. Thankfully, I've always "whoa'd" early enough that I haven't been leaning over when the rear starts skipping across the pavement.
It's unsettled enough doing that while I'm upright, and I did learn enough from the textbooks to know to get off the brakes once leaned over (excepting a little trail braking, but nothing really forceful).
Again, it's a fairly minor inconvenience... just means I can't brake as deep as other riders. Since I'm not
racing
the SS, not a huge deal. But... if I can get a $1200-$1500 slipper clutch package for $500... man, it sure would make for sweeter riding. [moto]
Then again, maybe what really needs to happen is a front brake upgrade (pads? radial MC? 4-pad calipers?) so I don't have to friggin reef on the brake lever.
Or... more time on track learning how to brake gentler, earlier, and put the hammer down on the throttle sooner.
Oh hey Mo, I just remembered... you mentioned something a few weeks ago about having a Barnett aluminum clutch assembly? Were you looking to get rid of that?
Billy! That front stand no worky with your Monster?
If not, I'd gladly buy it for $70! If that was Toolio's, then I presume it must work with a Supersport.

The hole prong fits mine but I'd have to raise my triple for effortless hook up & lift but I don't want too, I like it dropped low. It was Elias' and used on his Supersport. You could roll into my garage and test it first of course, then pick it up later with your car or just take it home and see. I'm just off I-205 @ Foster Rd. Anytime

Save the money for track days.
I had a couple of chances to wish I had a slipper clutch... but if you just hold the lever in for longer... it becomes a manual slipper clutch... for free!
I dropped two gears heading hard into turn 4... when my engine wanted to go up one... so you can imagine the engine breaking on that... ended up power sliding through 4.... not the most fun in the world... but sure got my heart rate up.. and makes for some cool diamonds from the dingleberries I got stored in the back.

That's cool, is it a union shop? Does it have a contract with IBSH&M?
