My rear tyre was shagged and won't last a trip to Bathurst, let alone a track day Monday.

So I put my bike in the get new tyres today.  Awesome. Pilot Powers. I was excited... until...

I get a call about 12:30. It was the workshop. A massive crane or something has fallen over onto the building next to where the bike workshop is*. The whole building has been evacuated, my bike is currently sitting on blocks, with the wheels off, with the new tyres half fitted to the rims. The police and firies won't let anyone into the building (even to just drag the bike and the wheels out).

Depending on how long it takes to get the crane back up (and they need a *bigger* crane to do that) and ensure  the area is safe etc, I might not even get my bike back today. And the workshop is closed Sat/Sun. So the earliest I will see it is may be Monday mid morning...

So I may be out of Bathurst *and* out of the track day... Murphy is a bastard.

*not sure if anyone was injured. I hope not because it makes my sooking about not having my bike look weak.

Uh-oh ... what's going on here?

Sorry to hear that Craig, for all concerned.

Wouldn't have thought it would be too much of an issue to lift the crane (depending on how big it is) .... but time is no longer on your side. The biggest issue will be the make-safe - but if it hasn't touched 'your' building it could be OK.

..... and I s'pose they clock off early on Fridays.

How does Steph feel about having a big lump of a pillion tomorrow  Grin should slow her down enough for me to keep up.

Gah! Looks like I am definitely out. Just went down and had a chat with the coppers on point duty, they reckon that it could be A WEEK before they can dismantle the crane. They are bringing in some uber 450t crane from Newcastle this weekend and once that is in place they can start CUTTING UP the fallen crane. But the crane can't leave Newcastle till after peak hour because it's too big or something. The chick from the bike shop reckons it maybe earlier than that, but definitely not prior to Monday.  bang head

Looks like it's off to the pub for me.. drink

I'll put up the map with the locations and stuff later this arvo. To be honest it's pretty much just a matter of following signs for the most part Wink. I'm pretty certain Steph is till going (Betty, I would make a very_bad_passenger) along with Cam (one of her monstered workmates). They have done the route with me recently, so they should be able to sweep and at least and pick up the stragglers. Steph is out now as well.

BTW anyone wanna go to Eastern Creek for a track day on Monday for free? I'd rather someone take advantage of it than just lose the money.. Sad

On second thought, no, I am not able to do it. I'm working all day tomorrow, so won't be able to get around to getting a noo tyre, and the pending nuptials next Friday are  a bit of a strain on the hip pocket nerve.  Undecided

Thanks for the offer  waytogo. I'm not really sure I wanna take my bike on the track anyway. She has to get me to work everyday and if I hurt her on the track, she not insured so no track days on my daily rider.  Embarrassed
