I was hoping they were going to make a few changes rather than just slap a Single Side Swingarm on it  Undecided

Assuming the photos are real  Huh?

Well to start perhaps different exhaust and I was hoping for a different or elimation of the subframe but I know Pigs would fly before they did that  Grin

If the Rumor's are true I am very interested to see a Naked 1098.

Now would be a good time to be in the Ducati aftermarket exhaust business.

BTW, is that a single-sided exhaust? I couldn't really tell from the picture.

There's a giant, stupid argument going on in General about that shot.  Basically, if you like the 696 you're a f'n idiot.  If you don't like the 696, you're a f'n idiot.  No middle ground.  Just a buncha of DMF newbies (and a coupla more senior members) being dicks to one another.  Awesome.   Roll Eyes

The look of that 1100 ia growing on me.  I think I'm starting to 'get' the design of the 696 and think the look is improved a lot with a SSS.

The new monsters are not growing on me at all.  They lack the sharpness, detail, and care of the earlier models, brilliantly promoted as a rough conglomeration of spare parts.  The new frame bothers me the most.  Fat tubes, clumsy truss design, and the subframe is awful.  At least you can unbolt the ugly rearsets and pipes, but how do you get around that frame?

Being a positive guy <ahem>, I'd say at least someone can fabricate a bolt on solution to the fuglyness of the frame.  Those aren't cans, there 100% shitcans.  I do like the pipes curve around the motor, to me it's much more organic.
But I agree, the Monster has become a 'design'.

I can't say that I like the looks, but I am not a fan of the 696 either. The engine, now that I like.

Does anyone know if it has a dry clutch?

I sat on a 696 and it feels better than my 01 Monster. I think it could be a good machine. It just needs some Mods. Obviously those terrible Cans would be the first to go. Maybe someone will make a new subframe for it...

Still on the fence here.  Just found the article on Hell for Leather and searched it here, but I def think the photos are real.  Images of that quality would be pretty hard to photoshop, though I suppose you could photoshop them then add the fuzz in photoshop....  It was bound to happen though, the Monster has had almost the exact same setup since its inception.  It kind of reminds me of the speed triple in that stock, it's not entirely too attractive but at the same time there is TONS of potential for toying and making it your own.  The bike is still simple enough to warrant a bit of chopping while at the same time complex enough on its own to keep the eye busy.  Dig the SSS though, definitely key and the only reason I bought the S2R over a 695.
