Hope everyone is OK and am very sorry about the hugh hassle - I been thru that drill in S.Tx & S.Fla  enuff to know what a drag it is. Haven't been able to reach my brother in Sugarland yet, and the news coverage is still pretty sketchy, but it seems pretty obvious that a lot of you guys are gonna' be without power for a good while - bummer.
A lot of hurricane evacuees from Houston here in CC - we didn't even get any wind or rain! Weird.
By the way, if any of you are looking to get out of town next weekend, we are having the Grand Opening for our new Photographic Art gallery & wine bar in the heart of the entertainment district here on Fri eve. Plenty of wine will be flowing, and we'll have food, too. For those of you more predisposed to burgers and beer, we are located right in front of Executive Surf Club and next to the Water Street Seafood Co., always plenty going on:

Accidental Sky Art & Wine
309D N. Water St.
Corpus Christi, Tx, 78411

http://www.waterstreetmarketcc.com/directory.cfm

Got a full house of out-of-towners next weekend, but some garage space if anyone needs to park their bike.

Good luck to all, and I'll see ya' when I sees ya'...

Roger that BB. Appreciate the extended invite.  waytogo

The local news has broadcast that they're is approximately 4 million homes in the Houston metro area without power. Also reported are loss of wireless phone signal, possibly due to powerloss to the cell phone towers.

Hope everyone made it out of this relatively ok.  popcorn

Checkin in! I had to go out and rescue Desmolu and her mom during the night. Our power just came back, finally! Everyone else ok?

I hope everyone is ok.  This is the worst I have seen having been through the 1989 earthquake in SF, that was nothing compared to what I've seen around my neighborhood.

Here are some pictures just around my neighborhood.  My front porch is destroyed and backyard is destroyed and have some roof damage, still looking for a chainsaw to hack up the big tree is resting on my roof.  Here are some interesting pictures though to share with everyone..

Be safe out there.

My family and my house made it through just fine. Luckily for me the eye came in where it did kept my house from being flooded. I'm right at a mile from Kemah which got completely destroyed. The effects of this storm were pretty far reaching for everyone in and around Houston. I'm one of the fortunate one's, I got power back by Sunday. But I still can't buy gas or find any groceries in my area. I had to ride into work this morning to stand around most of the day because there's no power at work. 35 mile commute with no power anywhere in between.

You might ask why we live here.  I've lived here all my life and I can't imagine being anywhere else. I love Austin and I love Dallas but Houston and ClearLake is home to me. If you live in our area you are being touched by this storm  if you are somewhere else in this great state of ours say a prayer for all effected by this. We'll rebuild it then invite you down to see it.

Godspeed to everyone!

Alvin, That water if make the beast with two backsING high!!

Check out the pic in this link for a better idea of how high the water got in your area and in downtown Houston.

The whole Houston/Galveston area got make the beast with two backsed!  Cry I have no other way to put it, sorry.

Any word from David, Vince, or Frank?

Haven't heard from David, hope he's ok. He lives near the hospital I work at and the hospital itself sustained substantial damage. I wouldn't doubt that his power is still out.

Vince came over to my place yesterday and we headed west to pick up a generator from my big sis. Family rocks!  waytogo  She met us half way from Austin at Columbus to hand us a hot meal and a generator.

Frank is fine, he's out of town with his family.

Damon, you can not imagine how much I feared your home was among the devastation on 146 and Kemah. As you mentioned, that entire area was destroyed. I'm glad you and your family are well. If you need anything just call me. Seriously though, this isn't one of those polite comments made with no genuine intention. If you need help cleaning up or whatever just let me know.

The Red Cross is asking for donations, so if anyone has the ability to, please do so. Also in critical shortage is blood and blood products. Donate blood, it costs about 30 minutes of your time.

As the days slowly go by the reality continues to sink in. This is a sad time.

I'm not sure what I can do from Dallas, but if there's anything you guys need don't hesitate to ask.

I wouldn't be opposed to going down there and dropping water/food/whatever

Bryant,
Most of the stores have ice, water, and food now.  Ice is still very limited because most people still do not have any power.  If you guys have the time and energy, the most important help (at least in the nearby neighborhoods that I know of) is debris removal, specifically availability of a chainsaw.  I have removed a mountain load of fallen trees just in our block since Sunday.  We'll be back there in my neighborhood again after lunch, so I won't be back online till later tonight.  Call me 713.385.2465 if you need to reach me.

Be safe everyone.
