Thank you!

Except for the fact that he's incorrect about it.

If any of you have a motogp.com subscription, please feel free to watch any of the prior races and you'll hear it pronounced Loren-tho about 1 trillion times.  Not that it doesn't ever get mispronounced, but I'm just surprised that so many people (not only here) have torn into the announcers for mispronouncing it when in fact they were correct.

Haha indeed.

Anyhow, at the end of the day, I think that Indianapolis as a city and IMS as a venue really represented the US well and it looks like something that will be very positive for the exposure of MotoGP and motorcycle racing in general, so this is a great thing.

I'm sure we'll get some reports from the peeps who were out there, but all in all I think it went pretty well considering Ike was torturing the riders throughout the race(s).

They need to put some speakers in the infield.  If you were not in Ducati Island you could hardly hear the announcers.  But all in all a great event.  The staff and local police did an incredible job moving traffic to boot,  I'm excited to be going again next year.
The drive up to Wi sucked though I94 was flooded so they "routed" the traffic.  7.25 hours later I was done with what should have been an easy 5 hour trip.  But from the looks of it, and what I heard at the gas station the traffic going south was taking an extra 4 hours to route.

That sounds pretty great, especially considering mother nature.  The IMS peeps really know how to handle their shit.  They had kiosks in the airport handing out info and red bulls, they had the street signs, they had promotion everywhere. It also seems that since they've dealt with enormous crowds tons of times, they handled the traffic well (which is something Laguna is only now learning how to do).

I really hope I can make it out there next year, it sounds great and it seems like it has the infrastructure to handle such an event.  waytogo

it's "easy" to handle 100k people in a venue capable of holding 400k.  Tongue

speed uses the dorna-employeed announcers. are you sure you're not thinking of fox?

nick pronounces the "z", mark swaps back and forth.

Easy buddy. You're wrong.  Speed uses the motogp.com broadcasters, but thanks for playing  waytogo

Would the two of you make up your make the beast with two backsing minds? cheeky

Daryl ranted that he didn't understand why people were jumping on he NBC guy.  I gave a possible reason.  *I* didn't jump on the NBC guy.  I didn't say SPEED *ALWAYS* mispronounces it.  I simply stated that I've observed while watching SPEED's coverage all year that they mispronounce it at times, and call him by his first name at other times.

I beg to differ.

Leaving from the infield, you had no choice but to take a left onto 16th.

Then all of the cross streets were blocked-off for a couple of miles, keeping you from turning to double back.

With no signage to give any indication of how to get back to the west, it took forever winding through side streets to get back to my hotel.

That's how traffic has moved in Indianapolis after races for over 10 years that I know of.

Trust me, if moves well...............

IMS is one of the premier, if not the nicest racing facilities in the world. Everything there is top notch.

I thought they even did well considering mother nature wasn't too friendly..........

Must be something about inaugural races at IMS the past two times.

The first F1 race was cold and wet

Evil

Yeah - what is it with that track's layout?  OK, I wasn't there and have only seen the diagrams but it looks unimaginatively tyro.....Was there a theory there or did they route it through 'available space' around the golf course.....perhaps, for 2009, they'll just lay out a course in midtown Manhattan so it'll be closer to the eastern half of the US population....

 Evil Evil

Hmmm....schedule a race during hurricane season and then wonder why it rained....
