I picked up a hi-viz vest to make sure I get home from work every day.  I've been wearing it a month and here's what I think:

''I picked up a hi-viz vest to make sure I get home from work every day.''

Privateer dont lull yourself into a false sense of security. I wore hi viz every working day for 9 years as a postie and believe me they still dont see you! You may as well rely on a mystical entity getting you home. Roll Eyes

Just picked up a Bell Vortex helmet http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/insanity/4991

Fits my head shape a bit better than the Scorpion exo r410 incline. Major reason for purchase was I only have 1 full helmet so when the wife and I ride two up I was sporting the half-helmet. So glad to have another full!

Thanks.

Don't worry, I haven't changed my mindset.  I do notice people do react sooner when I'm overtaking (in a good way).  I don't have a good way to measure oncoming or cross traffic.

Honestly, two other reasons I wear it.  1) it's like camouflage for the highway patrol around here.  I don't really ride crazy fast or anything, but I don't even warrant a glance now when I go by them.  2) If anything ever does happen and the driver says "I didn't see him" I can legitimately ask "how could you not?"

Helmet: Arai RX-Q Oriental w/pinlock, and AGV Grid Sun/Moon (need tinted lens)
Gloves: Dainese Carbon Cover st and Scout's for cold
Jacket/Suit: Dainese Avro leather and Superspeed textile
Pants: Dainese Delta Pro Leather, Air Drake textile
Boots: Dainese Axial Pro In (considering a less intense boot but id rather keep my feeties protected)
Back protector: Purchased a Dainese wave g2 in winter, havent put it in jacket yet.
Underneath: Either long johns or basic tshirt/boxers
Wear earplugs?: Nope. A couple times ive played ipod on a long solo ride.
Accessories: RX-Q has an Oxford foggy knockoff, helps a bit but Canadian weather is a pregnant dog. RX-Q can fit my sunglasses, my other helmet doesn't.
Ogio backpack purchased end of season but have not put it to use. Medium sized Nelson Rigg tank/tail bag.

Well, I'll play:

Helmet:  Arai Signet-Q (it's the only one that fits)
Gloves:  Klim Elements gloves, waterproof with gauntlets.  These are awesome gloves.
Jacket/Suit:  Aerostich Hi-Viz one-piece suit in winter, Ducati Isle of Man jacket or BMW Belise in summer
Pants:  BMW Rallye Pro or Hein Gericke G Line leather (they are awful)
Boots:  Sidi Vertebra Rain or Sidi Canyon
Back protector: Built in to each jacket; CE 2 rated
Underneath:  I also have a Dainese hard shell rib protector.  It makes a good wind shield
Wear earplugs?: Yes, custom molded silicone
Accessories (backpacks, sunglasses, foggy respro, etc.):  Foggy respro.  The Duc has a Hepco Becker expandable pillion bag that I love so much, I've had the zipper replaced and the top panel repaired.  I had a Givi Voyager tank bag which I loved, but it was stolen this past week.

On long rides I bring a Camelback Mule.

My spouse:
Helmet:  Scorpion EX900
Gloves: Rev-it
Jacket/Suit:  First Gear, textile with a waist buckle (not a Killimanjaro)
Pants:  Aerostich Darien custom-made
Boots:  BMW touring
Back protector:  CE2
Underneath:
Wear earplugs?:  No.  Sad
Accessories (backpacks, sunglasses, foggy respro, etc.):

IOM jacket is one of the best looking jackets ever made  Cool (even better in the women's version)

If you have a Signet head, the Schuberth helmets could be an alternative - should you need one  waytogo

I’ve been wearing the same gloves for several years now and they’re starting to show their age.  I stopped by the Yellow Devil Gear Exchange closing-sale and found some Cycleport gloves left over.  The price was right and they fit pretty well so I scooped them up.  I’d known about Motoport/Cycleport for a couple years, but only from their jackets.  A couple of the local guys had gotten full suits and jackets from them and were very happy.  I’m really picky about my gloves, but based on the price of these I felt OK giving them a shot.  Now that I’ve worn them for a couple months it’s time to make some observations.
