I walked right past it, I see one Desmosedici and I black out and wake up to "sir, sir please don't hug that!"

This bike that is the topic of this forum belongs to my friend Brian. It was finished Thursday morning and loaded onto my truck for the Indy Moto GP weekend. We just got home late last night and the bike will be finished within the next few weeks. Look for it in several motorcycle magazines in the future. Just some info it started life as a new 2009 Monster 696 and was cut, chopped, and rebuilt in less than 5 weeks. You wouldn't believe the amount of hours that went into this thing. We didn't even think we were going to make Indy but we did.  waytogo

It has a 1098 swing arm, a highly modified one off exhaust, and a hot rod 996 motor. The stock Monster frame had to be modified as well. We did not have time to install the wire harness, brake, lights, turn singnals, so the bike does not run. It will later this month. Pic's do it no justice it is one sick looking bike. Brain is a real artist/bike builder. He showed me the drawing of this bike 6 weeks ago and it looks exact to his drawing that he showed me. It just amazing what he can do.

Brain is going to kill me for posting this, but the bike drew lots of crowds around it all weekend at Indy. The bike even attracted some hot babes from Ducati Island  Grin

LOL it's funny that you said that. On the way home in my truck Brain said he was going to change the brake rotors on the bike.

Once they get used, those rotors will turn silver.

These mods completely and utterly rectify every major issue I personally had with the original 696.

Those being:
- The visual flow of the instrument panel with tank.
- The removal of the cans
- SSS + wheels
- Engine + dry clutch woo
- No longer looks like a Japanese bike

This thing looks absolutely feral... in a good way.

To me this *IS* the true successor to the original monster design. It's got soul, it's got passion, it's got the right lines-- absolutely perfect.

GREAT JOB BRIAN. And amazing turnover from concept to execution. 6 weeks!

Only thing i'd change is if a small instrument panel is needed, perhaps try the Hypermotard one, cos that one being used is a tad tacky looking.
You could even pull off putting a curved arrow-shaped plexiglass screen without detracting from the looks of it.
