2007 S2R 1000

« on: May 08, 2008, 06:48:52 PM »

Hi All

I've got an '07 S2R 1k.  So far I haven't chopped the tail, but I like the look.  I will be riding in the rain and heard a tail chop = wet back.

Does a hugger help?  I looked in the '06 DP catalog, and they say if you have the full Termi system (which I do) their carbon rear hugger won't fit.

So what are my options?  Someone elses hugger?  No hugger, no chop?

I've seen alot of options for chops, not so many about the hugger.

Thanks

Have someone fabricate it where you can put it back on and off.You just have to figure out how you're gonna deal with the turn signals.

I am considering the DP short tail....

Or maybe this one:

Requires a little (85mm) chop, but still should offer weather protection.

I do still kinda like the look of the hugger, hopefully I can find one to solve the keeping dry thing..

I don't know if this helps but.... i did a chop on my 695 and took of the hugger (that comes stock).  I rode through the rain on my way up from DC to pittsburgh and didn't have any problems with getting more wet than usual.

Actually that does help.  I guess if you ride in the rain you're gonna get wet.  I just don't want to make it worse.  If it's not noticeably worse, I may go with the chop, then hugger when I find one I like, and damn the rain  mo:t:

Thanks

dont think the rear hugger on the s*r series will help much if you chop the tail.

i had the full hugger on my 620, and with the tail chopped i got a nice wet strip up the back.

I kept my beer tray but got someone to "clean it up" put some swopes in it and replaced the signal with some little ones (brand unknown)
but it's pretty sweet because I was worried about getting wet also, still have stock hugger and used to get wet but bought a rain suit.
That helped a bunch!  wt:

I chopped mine and got a bit of a strip on the back when in the rain... but I was getting drenched anyhow. One of the guys we ride with did trade me a beer for my parts... and he built a removable beer tray with little inserts so he can swap it on and off depending on the season.

Okay. I remember back in the day that there was a "cookie" tail chop kit (or something like that).

Is that still the state of the art? Is Cookie around? Is he taking orders?

I'm ready to chop!

What's the word?
