ha ha well its my fault i didnt bring the right bit for the dremel, billy chopped em down good though.

I have to still cut off those welds to get the end caps off. I have two nice little one foot long pipes though. I have to go down and buy a bit to finish the job.

Hey billy, i found a post that showed what it looks like on the inside after the chop, it looks just like mine with the 3 pipes coming out, that wall that we thought we had to break through you dont have to so im leaving it, but i am going to pull that ring out of the end cap ect. So that makes it easy. Im going to buy the bit tonight and see if i cant get them frikkin end caps off. DAm those welds are tough.....

Pop out the ring before you remove the end caps.  The extra material makes the gripping easier to remove them.

Basically dremel the welds on 'em.  Take a 5lb sledge and a cold chisel and whomp em a few times.

I used a large flat head to help seperate the outer lining from the endcaps by hammering in and twisting, ad naseum.  Once the welds are cut and you've done this they do come out.

1 foot . . . dude you cut the puppies shorter than mine!  Gonna sound SICK!  Evil

Okay i give up......

I cut the welds on the end cap but the dam cap still wont seperate from the pipe/other crap what the hell is holding it on at this point? I took a hammer and knocked the pipe inwards but it only proceeded to go about an inch in before it stopped, I took a screwdriver and ran it all along the edge and bent in the canister so theres a big gap between the end cap and the pipe, yet still it wont come off.  We cut the pipe off right where the end cap starts so basically what i have is the end cap with about an inch of inerds, and that pipe stuck in that hole laughing at me cause it wont budge now. I just dont get what is holding that in there if all the welds are cut....im about ready to stomp on this thing. Im sure bill understands. Any ideas?  bang head

I got one idea, drill holes all around til the thing falls out.....

Put a large socket or pipe that is nearly as big as what the new opening will be and hit it with a... what Krolik said. There needs be room behind for it to give. We should have kept the shells that we cut off they would have worked great for this.

If you'd like to proceed this weekend we'll finish them off and mount them.

Got the other one off last night, knocked out the end piece as well. What a PITA. Ducati really didnt want anyone to take those off do they? I sanded the pipes down last night, preparing for the paint job. All i gotta do now is paint them, then put the rivets in then put them on.   waytogo  Im just gonna go buy a rivet tool and put them on myself.
