No good deed goes unpunished.

I've all but given up hope that I'll be able to ride before 2009.  Not only has riding time been severely hampered by the addition of a baby, but when I do plan a ride, it frickin rains!  Only one more thing I hate more than riding in 100 degree heat is sitting in traffic in the rain commuting to work.

I swear I'm calling in sick the first sunny day (as long as it isn't a Japanese holiday!).

Guess what!  It was beautiful out today!  So nice that I called in to take the day off.  Went out to get ready for my ride...low and behold guess who has a flat front tire?

Yep...went back inside in disgust, put on the khaki's and dress shoes, and went to work.   Sad

Clearly karma has something against me.

Bad day all round, Yesterday I took girlfriend for a ride. She doesn't like speed so I can't go over 4k RPM which sucks. I didn't bother with maps, cause you know, I know the roads. 90 minutes later after having missed the on ramp for the expressway, I am stuck in a one way system in a housing estate god knows where going in circles. WTF

Probably better neither of us got out on the open road, I think it is still "Anzen unten" week or month or whatever. Probably would have got busted.

hey, don't feel too bad. I'm stuck in a hotel in Okinawa on base recovering from having my gall bladder removed 5 days ago. Actually, I feel pretty good now. Just like I got punched in the gut. Should be home in Yoko on Tuesday too. There's not much to do in Oki if you're not allowed to get in the water. Damn, wish I could go snorkeling or diving.

Hi Slowpoke,

Hope you get better soon, when you get back to Yokohama and are well again, maybe we should try to organize another group ride.

Last weekend, for the first time in what felt like months, I actually had a good ride. Went down to the bottom of Izu and back with the Girlfriend on the back.

We took some stupidly tiny roads, and for the first time in a long time actually heard silence, without any background noise.

We did about 400kms in total. I am going again this weekend with the touring group.

Anyway get well soon, at least you have better weather in Okinawa. Its been miserable in Tokyo for the last few days.
