Stayed at BnBMikes place this weekend in Pacific City.  Thanks, Mike and Laura.  You guys are wonderful and the Craftsman B&B is spectacular.  I can't wait to come out and stay again, hopefully do a bike trip next time.

Here's a few pics of the weekend.  Please keep going through the cheesy dog pictures and you'll be rewarded with something very cool!

Oktoberfest, Pacific City style:



An 80 year old New Standard.  An airplane from the Jazz Age (1929) that is still flying, 20 minutes for 60 bucks.  Amazing.

Here is the Sportsman's Pub in Pacific City, a nice little dive on the corner of the only traffic light in town. 



I'm walking back from the beach with the dogs, and what do I see parked around the corner of the pub? 



Yup.  A real one.  1950 Vincent Black Shadow.  All original (although I think the fly rod didn't come as factory equipment). I'm standing there ogling it and a barmaid comes out for a smoke.  She tells me that the owner Ray is inside.  So, I step inside and ask if I can take pics.  Sure, he says.



He says he's had it since 1972.  His longest, most enduring relationship bar none.   



I love how the speedo got stuck at 90 mph.  Ray said he was going to fix it soon.  How cool.  Stuck at 90!  ha ha (not 40 or 50 but 90) woo hoo!



Certainly, the fly rod is not stock equipment.  Neither is the 14 inch trout in the side bag that Ray caught earlier that afternoon.



Look closely at the little shift indicator knob.  Tells you what gear it's in.



This bike is no trailer queen.  Ray rides all the time and it is well cared for.  He started it for me and it sounded like a symphony - more beautiful than even Ducati's signature sound.



And the license plate.  Awesome.



All in all, it was a great weekend.  Beautiful weather, great hikes, great food, great beer, faithful dogs, skydivers, old airplanes, and real, genuine legendary classic motorbike.  Ray lives in Tillamook.  He is genuine person, a great guy, you can tell right off the bat.  I'm sure he told the story how he got the bike in '72, etc., a million times, but he took the time to tell it again to me.  Thanks, Ray.  Good riding to you, buddy.

So, if you're ever riding around Tillamook/Pacific City way, and see Ray on his awesome Vincent, tell him I said hello.

Yeah, that Vincent is the real deal.  Never saw one in person before.  And the sound - oh, man, it sounds fantastic.  The owner is a very cool, normal dude also.  Topped off a great weekend.

If you look closely, the rear wheel has a sprocket on both sides.  I wonder why?  When I was first looking at it, I thought it was a trailered bike, because I didn't see any chain on the sprocket in one of the fist pics, but in the last pic, you see its on the right side, not left.

I didn't notice the double sprocket.  That is bizarre.  I wonder why that is.

BTW, I can guarantee you that it runs and drives !

How about the old biplane, did you go for it? Looks crazy fun! $60/for 20-or-death I think I'd have to go for it.

What a jewel you stumbled upon, the Vincent HRD Black Shadow, that would have been totally amazing to see & hear. It looks all original to 'cept maybe that sprocket Visolara pointed out. Hunter S. Thompson mentioned this bike. It was probably the quickest thing on the road in it's time. For decades I believe it humiliated big twin road racers. I like that Ray just sets his helmet and goggles on the ground next to it. Cool bags and pole too.

I have had a few beers with Ray,  .  Next time I see him I'll ask about the dual sprocket at the rear.  Last time I saw him, I was riding Laura's scooter and got a wave as I pulled up.  I took off my helmet and he said,"I thought you had a Ducati, why are you riding this?"  he did have to check out the scooter though.  The other PC locals are Harley guys  .

Believe it or not, our other guests are friends with Victor.  They did say nice things about him, but I promised I wouldn't tell anybody, opps!

Thats my point if you have a trailer and a car/truck to pull the before mentioned trailer you wouldn't need to keep the fishing rod on the bike...
