Just wondering if anyone with a 696 has had this issue.  I took my bike to the dealer last week, because I noticed it smelled like gas while riding it.  I then found out it was leaking gas but couldn't see where, so I decided to take it to the dealer.  They gave me a call back and said that it was my gas tank leaking, and that somehow it had been warped by heat.   They are supposedly having one sent from Italy that should be here in 3 days.  Not really worried about it since it is a warranty issue, but just wondering if anyone had a problem similar to this. Dealer said it was the first one he saw.  It's been so nice out I just want to ride though!

No kidding, that seems very optimistic.

I've been able to smell gas a time or two on my 696, but rarely, and only on startup... Never enough to be concerned.

I have about 700 miles on my 696.

Have not noticed any gas smell. How hot is your engine running?

Mine runs at 3-4 bars.  I've never seen five.

1500 miles on my 696 here.  she has been known to see 6 bars on a couple instances in traffic, but usually stays pegged around 3-4 bars.

I waited 3 weeks and they still never got me a part for my new bike. The dealer finally gave up and took one out of a bike on the showroom floor. My speedo back lighting quit on me a month ago and I'm still waiting for a new one. Ducati absolutely blows in the customer service aspect. Can't say much good about reliability either. Funny thing though is I still love the bike.

3 bars..4 bars..6 bars.  What's with that shit?  I thought temperature was measured in degrees.

Oh yeah.  It's a 696.  No real guages..just that digital video game shit.  It's not a real bike.

No real vacuum tubes, just that fancy transistor stuff?  You're not using a real computer.  Grin

1200 miles, occasional gas smell when parked but nothing to complain about, 3 days from Italy, do post if you get it, might want to switch dealers, no matter where they are located.

...

Real Computers didn't have no fancy TUBES.  Just gears and levers and things.  Real men calculated projectile trajectories on them.  Or something.
