Cosmetic monster mods

As much as I like the way my M695 dark looks, I want to make some minor changes. I'm thinking of getting a red seat cover to go with thin red tire stripes, but I'm torn. I like the whole super dark theme, but the bike needs something. Does anyone have any pics of a similar set up....opinions (good, bad, ugly) ?

I have a set of red S4Rs type tank, windscreen, and seat cowl stripes that I bought to put on my dark model but decided not to. I got them on ebay for like 60 bucks but could get rid of them for 50 shipped. Let me know if your interested. Go to tapeworks.com and check out Paul's bike under the current months customer bikes. He got a cool ducati monster decal that has some red in it that I am going to order.

A red seat cover would likely be a bit much, especially if you want to keep the "uber-dark" motif. Some red piping or accent stitching, however, would set off the wheel stripes quite nicely.
I've always thought a red airbox would look mighty cool glaring through the frame on a Dark. Food for thought.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I agree with Obsessed. A red seat would be very guady and way to much IMO. I do like the idea of some red stitching though. I have a dark and I am trying to add a little red here and there. I usually try to get as many opinions from friends and familly that don't have a bike before I make any changes. They usually see the whole picture better than I do and will tell me if something looks stupid.
I am going to be replacing my tank decals with the ones mentioned above which will add some red to the tank and I also have a red Metallica ninja star on my seat cowl( see avatar). I was going to put red stripes on the tank and cowl but it would have been way to much red.

I like this one:
http://www.luimoto.com/product_info.php?cPath=cPath=290&products_id=155
They customize, so red stitching should also be available.

Thanks all. The more I think about it, the more I think you are probably right. The mix of gloss red and flat black just doesn't work. I might still go with the wheel tape, but if I do, I will keep that minimal. I usually start thinking of adding a bunch of color and then go with a minimal look. I did that with my Mustang...Dark Shadow Grey, black rims, black tint, black interior, etc. and really like the way it came out. I suspect I'll do something similar with the Monster.

I think you misunderstood. I personally think that a little bit of gloss red works really well with the flat black, but it works best when its used as an "edging" or "accent" color.
I like the way rim stripes look. I think red rim stripes and a stock seat with red piping would look killer. Maybe some black levers with red adjusters up front to balance it out.
Then again, it's your bike.

You might want to close the hood before you go for a drive.
