DEVO!

My install took 5 minutes and just for any 695 owners the connectors are in the same position as the hyper, lower side of the horizontal bar in front of the rear cylinder ( have to find another place to put the manipulator but I was in  a hurry)
My 695 is typical popping, hesitation, the famous 695 pop from the air box and ran like crap from 2500 to 4000 RPM's, like most 695 owners with out a DP ECU I just live with it.
After the install I immediately noticed my idle was different not  rough very smooth and faint smell of gas. Took the long way home about 60 miles freeway and about 20 miles of canyons. NO MORE POPPING! there were a few right when I took off by by the time I got to the freeway on ramp it was not popping at all. On the freeway I noticed the surging was gone as well and part throttle smoothness was there as well no more dead zone between 3k-4k. When I got to the canyons all I can say is wow! smoothness across the entire RPM range has really improved, no hiccups just nice delivery from 3K to 8k. I did everything I could to make my bike pop or exhibit any of the tendencies (closed throttle from wide open at 8k)it had before I installed the manipulator but so far they have not returned. In the city I can cruise along in traffic at 2500! and its just friggin smooooooooooth, so far I have put 119 miles in. Today I took off to work and my bike usually runs bad until its really warm, surges, pops, hesitates really bad. but this morning NO, I just got on took off and it just ran very smoothly cold. My idle is a little higher (about 12 1/2) but I can live with that for now.
I set it at 13.2 and today I will try 13.5 and see how that works.
I am very happy my bike runs like its supposed to Thanks Jason!

BTW is there any way I can adjust the idle?

Very cool man - everyone that buys the unit seems pretty happy with.  I was thinking about getting one for my bike after I installed the mid-pipe but I don't think I'll be needing it as (luckily) the bike has been running great.

There is another thread here about what seems to be a home made version of this unit but nothing concrete yet.

Ok day # 2....
I set the adjustment to 13.5 and I think thats about right. I cant smell fuel any more and it still runs smooth, my idle is still dead on at 1200. So far I am very happy with the way my bike runs and I think the way it ran before was just friggin horrible compared to now. Its funny I sold my seat to a guy with a 05' 620 and he let me ride it in the parking lot and there were none of the issues that the 695 has, it ran very smooth. So why doesnt the 695 run like that?  ???

herm

its not necessarily the model...........it can just be the bike.

i have never had issues with my 06 s2r1000, which is regularly maligned as the original _problem_ bike with regards to the O2 sensor

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to order this thing and try it.  I've got the 06 S2R1K and it definately has a nasty idle and a lean run.

meh...   more moneys spent.

620 doesnt have an O2 sensor.

Herm, you are defintely right. My bike never had any issues, then i sent it in to get new valve guides. Now its rough as hell, stumbling a lot, and the damn thing keeps surging on me. :/

Did you make any adjustments recently?

GOT HER BACK.

She rode pretty good. I need to lift her tank up and fix some of the wiring issues (all over the place, since ive been adding a bunch of stuff on to her)

HE  MANNNN. lol, i would try it, but i dont have much of a surging issue so i wouldnt know if it worked or not.  [laugh]

Nope, when i took her back she ran great. Great power (mostly because the exahust got put back on)

But after logging 250miles on her, on idle the engine surges from 1100-1400 every few seconds. The only way to stop it is to shut it off and turn it back on.

THat post on the 13th, were all highway miles (on the way home) so they were all above the o2's rpm limit. the surging issues came about when i start city riding.

3500k is jerky as make the beast with two backs (not tall gearing jerky) but more like engine just cuts out at random points, or the bike leaps foward for a bit.

Im hoping a PCIII can solve that problem. (havent had any luck of getting a cheapie used one to find out)

Try backing out your air bleed screws on the throttle bodies to smooth out your idle.  Note where they are before you move them in case you need to return to the original setting, but opening them (counter clockwise) should help with your surging problem.  Open them the same amount to keep the balance between the throttle bodies.  You'll want to open them enough to stabilize the idle, but still keep it between 1100 - 1200 RPMs.  Opening them too far will raise the idle.

I think your recommendation would only help if the surging issue was consistent. (it isnt) It happens randomly and sometimes my idle is great, other times its all over the place.

Hey Devo,

Any pictures of the installation of your O2 emulator?

Thanks,

Peter

I will try and get some up tomorrow but i have it zip tied to the horizontal bar in front of the rear cylinder near the left side. I need to figure out a way to get it some where completely under the tank if possible I have just been really busy lately and when it arrived I just went out at lunch and put it in.

I have ordered an O2 manipulator from Jason as well.  Does anyone have any pictures of the where the O2 sensor and related wiring harnesses are located on a 2007 S2R 1000?

O2 sensor is plugged into your exhaust/udder, follow that up to the connector. Maniplulator sort of "splices" in with a male/female plug so it truly is plug n ride. I'm still amazed at how well it is doing... been almost a month and smooth is putting it lightly  on how well the throttle control is now from 2250 - 7k+.

Just install on a cold bike so you dont 3rd degree yourself. Manipulator cable is sorta S shaped so it does not add much in length. Just tie it up along the frame under the seat or under one of the rear side covers. Be aware that it is not 100% water proof, so if you can get it somewhere snug, you will be fine.

For initial install you may want to adjust it, but once you find the sweet spot, forget about it and ride!

I ordered one of these today. I'll be back home for thanksgiving week and will post up how it works on my 2006 S2R1000 with full Ti Arrows.

My bike has allways run fairly well with the full Arrows Ti System, baffles in, and stock air filter. It does sometimes have some of the surging though so hopefully this eliminates that and makes is a bit smoother.

Any one had recent experience with this and a similar setup?
