Same ole DesmoDevil, in a more gentle package

« on: May 09, 2008, 07:20:44 AM »

Hey gang,

So when I got home with my bike in the truck after some service, I realized that they didnt give me my key back.  No biggie...I wanna ride so I go to get my spare and I cant find it.  :bang

I have my red key, and key card.  How hard and expensive is it to get more spares made?

For those seeking the answer:

1) Call your shop with your key card handy and give them your electrical number and mechanical number.
2) With #1 they sell you an ridiculously over-priced blank key ($27.5)
3) With #3 and your current key, you bring that to a hardware store and they cut the blank
4) With #4 in hand, you go back to the Ducati shop with proof that you own the bike, AND your red key.  They then program the key to work with your ecu

$50 later, you have a spare key.  Undecided
