Methods to color the forks?

I'm thinking about coloring the forks grey/titanium when they are off to get new internals.

Which choices do I have?

PS Also want to know about methods for the (gold) center of the rotors (4 piston Brembo S2R 800 upgrade kit)

Yes, almost silver - I would like them to be dark grey.

Anodizing the the right way to do it.  Not sure if they do hard anodizing in a grey, but regular anodizing will fade in the sun quite fast.

oh, you specifically want it just a shade darker. lol

Like taft says hard anodizinig is the way to go. Hard Anodizing is UV resistent, regular anodizing uses organic compounds so it fades (except for gold since they just use brass to plate it, thats what speedymoto told me)

If you paint it, the paint is often thicker and will lead to fitment issues. you can also do what celli did, he wrapped his forks in vinyl. But if you are gonan go for a new color, why not something cooler like GOLD!!!!! Grey jsut seems to stock to even bother with.

My bike is red and doesn't really look as good with gold, as the black bikes do IMO.

Excuse me for butting in, but I am curious about this topic for my bike also.  What type of business does hard anodizing?  Can the swing arm be done also?

I dont see why not. If your in the US, just yellowbook an anodizer through yahoo.com or something. Custom shops can point you in that direction.

Well, now I feel like a dumbass.  It took an entire 2 minutes to find 2 places that hard anodize within 15 minutes of my house.  This just seriously bumped up my timeframe for having my swingarm and forks done (I had originally thought powdercoating).  I have a new question now (might be helpful for Stopintime also).  Both shops offer hard anodizing with or without Teflon coating (advertised as extra corrosion protection and for self lubrication).  Is the Teflon coating something worth looking into for the protection part?  I am sure it cost extra.

anodizing.......... if you want a shiny finish ,get your aluminum parts polished first.If you want a more matte finish just leave them be. S2R swingarms can be done and a commercial polisher will charge about $60.00 per hour to do the work and it'll take about 3-4 hours to get it done right. In Portland Oregon use Metal Polishing by Timothy 503 253 5294.He is on 148th between Sandy and Airport way.
Hard anodizing is definatly the way to go. The finish looks good for years and there is no fitment problems after like there would be with paint.
Anodizing is available in many colors so just pick what you want and have fun with it!
