Thanks for all the help.  I will definatly try Valley when my 12K comes up.  For tires I will probably just suck it up and go to Del Amo as their prices aren't that bad for the tires I am looking for (pilot road 2) and it is all of 2 minuites from work.  Unfortunalty I don't have stands yet so I will just have to drop the bike off as spend the $50 for them to mount them.

Moto Servizio in Signal Hill (north Long Beach) Scott 562-981-0911

Later.

It's actually closer to east Long Beach. Just southwest of the airport. Safe in other words.

Yeah, if you've got 2 months to wait, he's a good one.  If you want your bike done this millenium, go to Nick.

*not that Scotty isn't awesome, 'cause he is.  It's just that he's not a very well-kept secret anymore and he's busy as hell and does everything himself, up to and including answering the phone (well, he does have that cat).

Last time I needed service (two months ago) I made an apointment a week prior. I've never had a hard time getting in there. He did mention he got some great customers from DML referrals and some really bad ones as well. He gun shy unless you are referred from a current customer is my take on it.

and he still has the cat.  Smiley

He was always really cool to me, but since this guy is a new customer it's gonna take him a while to get in.  And I totally understand Scotty's position too.  If you book as much work as he does, why deal with shitty customers?

a couple years ago i was trying to get a 6k done on my S4R.  i left scotty at least 5 voice mails, each time listing at least 2, sometimes 3, current/good customer references.  folks who had *just* been there.

not a peep.  not a call back, ever.

you can fill in the blank on the rest of my opinion of the guy.

If you are in the South Bay the two places I've gone for tires are Cycle Gear in Lomita on PCH and a Moto Tires only place on Western about a half mile above PCH.  Sorry, I can't think of the name.  (I'll look it up and post the info ASAP) The two times I bought tires at this shop I went in feeling like it was going to be more expensive than Cycle Gear but rode off feeling like I got a better price.  I know it sounds wierd but. . .

The guy on Western will swap out tires on the bike for $70 total IIRC.  Cycle Gear only mounts tires off the bike and I believe it is $15 a tire.

M/C Tire Works 26023 Western Ave. Lomita 310-539-4151

PS. I wouldn't let Del Amo wash my bike let alone deal with something as important as my tires. My 2 cents! Police

IF the machine is working, and IF the one guy that knows how to work it is there that day.

While trolling Craigslist I saw this guy:

I've never used him but if he is in your neck of the woods it might be worth a shot.

my friend is a certified ducati technician.  he works and does repairs, maintenance, upgrades and stuff like that out of his garage.  i go to him for almost all of my bike needs.  he'll hook you up, just tell him i sent you.  if you're interested, let me know i'll give you his number.

That's unusual. Maybe three references you left all owe him money.  Smiley

My opinion is he is great Ducati mechanic and inexpensive. Hell, he even serviced the R6 for me. $65.

if valley ducati is convenient for you, then use Nick there.   He is a good honest mechanic that is very easy to work with as far as scheduling and such.

So far I have not heard a bad word about his work from anyone or anywhere on this board at any time.

The only other person that I would trust as much is Stu of flightcycles, but since he is only doing custom work he is no longer an option for me.
