It's just not "all about cars"

Alot of people who watch the UK program don't know sh*t about cars, but they like the actual show, which for me, is how it is actually presented and hosted.

And don't tell me that some of the cars they have on the show aren't sh*t hot!

And with their tongues firmly wedged in the cheeks. Some are more shit than hot?? Grin waytogo

And I agree Super, its entertainment value with the UK show and not just as a car show per se. Wink Grin

I've often thought of this type of show since about 1999, some clever aussie characters, and put them on bikes, old ones, new ones, small and big, some crazy trips, and some clever tips and having a bunch of fun along the way. But I know nothing about that sort of game, its just a dream.

Mmick, we're dreaming about the same thing. It's been on my mind for the last 12 months.

so a bike show....that doesn't pretend that everyone is a overweight, unwashed, tassel-bound Harley-riding chrome-addict???

revolutionary, I like it!

Weren't those guys from bikeme working on something like that? I thought it was gonna be a regular DVD. Haven't seen one yet.

Back on topic, episode 2. I'm still not warming to it. The big fault with last nights show was the lack of intro to the cars in the Holden/Ford comparo.
They should take some time to introduce the cars, who makes it, what are they, how much etc. I like to learn something from shows like this, not just watch idiots burn rubber. I can look out the window and see that. In the end they didn't end up with an opinion about which one came out on top. Say what you like about Clarkson but at least he has an opinion and isn't afraid to offend anyone.

Bring back the UK version.

Nothing like the sound of a Ducati!

CRICKEY!!

OK so they did a half arsed job of the original, but go back and have a look at some of the early footage of the original show and I think that most of you will make the same comments that you have said about the Aussie one.
Yeah remove the 'stig' and put the aussie version the 'yob' in instead. I'm gunna give it a little time to develop, see what happens, and then make my mind up. They need more cameras on their test track so you know where you are, hopefully they will slick it up some.
I'll let you all in on a little secret of mine.

Sound like a great idea mate! waytogo

And you would make a great host with that little bit of Aussie humor you possess.

My take on it though is that the greater majority of viewers are educated enough to know how much each one would cost.
Be it Ford or Holden, they know how much power blah blah blah, what you wanna see is people driving them.
Be it creating smoke as Clarkson does at every opportunity.
To attract a wider audience the show has to a car show about people and personalities, not a show about cars.
That's why TG-UK and it's personalities have attracted so many people as an audience, both male and female.

After seeing a taping yesterday, I am going to give it a good go to see how it develops after all we are just 2 eps in.
There is a lot more to come I think in the development of the show and the characters who host it.
Just my view

I agree with Matty. I am going to give them a go as it has only been 2 episodes. Compared to that other crap (The Car Show) which is just a big Shannons ad, this show is streets ahead.

I must admit I do love Top Gear UK but with this we at least see some local cars.

kind of a side step....

the shannons ad that is on the show....with the Ducati owner...

am I the only one here who has to impersonate that guy when someone asks what bike they ride?

"so exciting, and like all duks it has no redline on the tacho, you shift by feel, the insurance SHANNNNNNONS."

seriously, between him and Tom Cruise it's a public relations nightmare!

OHHHHHHH so glad that ad drives someone else nuts. all my mates do that everytime they are near my bike. "SHIFT BY FEEEEEEEEEEL" as they sexually caress my bike up and down with greasy fingers... urgh. stupid ad.

and then I found this while reading another forum, even netriders are laughing at us

I don't think they're laughing at us, just at the ad. As Ducati owners, we tend to cringe at it. Is there a smiley for cringing?

Didn't hear what the 2nd week ratings were like.
But I was talking to Warren and the screen writer at the taping of Ep3 on Tuesday.
They are listening I think and adjusting things as they go along.
