gas cap swap?

Hi all,

Wondering what the purpose is for replacing your stock, locking gas cap with one that is a twist off?

I see people selling them all the time on eBay and wondering what the appeal is?

Because it's different.

Because it may look better to the buyer.

Almost a silly question............almost.

It's almost like asking: "why buy a monster?"  There are other bikes that will perform just as good, if not better for the price.  The problem with that is...boring.

People want things to be THEIRS.  Whether it be stickers, changing perfectly good parts, or paint jobs...people like to be different.

because they are advertised as "race" gas caps.

i have to say that they look really cool, but with today's prices of gas i'm not putting it past people to siphon gas straight out of a tank that isn't locked, as a deterrant.

but they do look really cool.  blue one would look cool on the yellow monster.
