The Beast:

VS.

The Beast R
http://www.tpoparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=119&osCsid=e225a8148910673c322e4e0d7cac51be

Is the kit really worth the added 100 bucks?

Thoughts?

Not unless you're gonna go racing.

From their site:

A: The original BEAST Kit is designed to deliver performance gains over the entire RPM range of your engine. The original BEAST Kit will provide power gains everywhere from idle up to redline. On the other hand, the BEAST-R Kit is designed for maximum top-end power. It does not deliver any additional power in the lower RPM ranges. However, the BEAST-R works even better than the standard kit at high RPM.

They are making this kit solely for TOP END performance. So unless you run your engine at top end revs all the time, I would suggest the original setup....

Dont diss the can. its awesome.

TPO beast cleans up the bike, but in all honesty, i like the airbox sound better. Bigger Vstacks just mean more air in. more air in = a shift in power top end.

I've been looking at the beast for a while now, but are the stacks that come with the standard one really all that necessary?  I know a conversion from box to pods will take a bit of modding (getting the battery out of the way, arranging the pods correctly, etc) but couldn't you just chuck a couple of pod filters on there, mod the existing intakes as necessary, add the crank case breather, and call it a day?  I just feel like 250 for a couple of pod filters + a few other things is a bit steep compared to the $100 for pod filters (tops) and a bit of ingenuity.  If anyone's installed the TPO kit and regretted it or dug it either way, let us know.

IIRC on TOB there were several threads on problems with the company.  They may have cleaned up by now though.
