i think they casted everyone right except for kirk, sure they are all supposed to be younger than the original series, so they got that.but for somereason kirk would be the hardest person to find a replacement for,  basically you needed to find someone with teh original william shatner charisma and its not coming acrtoss at all in those pictures one bit.

Le Pirate

is that the guy from harold and kumar in the back?

it's going to be really hard not to laugh now...I'll be expecting them to light up a blunt the entire time

Speaking of Star Trek, anyone been to the Star Trek museum here in San Diego? I wanna go at some point; just wanna know if it is worth it.

I never heard of it. I made it last year to the Star Trek Expierence in Vegas for the first time with my fiance, and that was really neat. I'm glad that we went since they recently closed it. As I understand it, it had been there for 10yrs and no one stepped up to renew the lease...it's sad that such an iconic feature is closing its doors. I wonder what they do with all the set pieces when they dismantle something of that size.

More news was released today:

- The action begins at a time pre-Kirk's birth with an attack on the starship USS Kelvin by the vicious Romulan captain Nero (Eric Bana).

- Most of the film follows the blooming friendship of Kirk and Spock, how the crew came together.

- Trek canon stuff shown or mentioned include the doomed Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood), Sulu's swordsmanship, and classic lines like "I have been, and always shall be, your friend."

- The opening sequence is "an emotionally wrenching passage that culminates with a mythic climax sure to leave zealots howling 'heresy."

- Sequences that will be shown include an awe-inspiring introduction of the Enterprise, a daring ice planet escape, and action up in the skies of Vulcan"

- The new-look hand phasers are "sleek silver gizmos with spring-triggered barrels that revolve and glow in the transition from 'stun' to 'kill'"

- Chris Pine beat out two other candidates who tested for Kirk in scenes with Zachary Quinto. His uniform is black in the photos because it's the standard space cadet uniform.

- Leonard Nimoy has scenes with the young Spock and possibly the young Kirk as well.

- The new bridge has handrails for the crew to grip onto during battles.

hehehehe

Does anyone know if they ever got Scotty's cremated ashes sent up in the rocket that was talked about for so long? I never heard after the first one exploded on a test flight.

Terrapin

They tried three times. Second try got them into orbit and then landed off the mark in the mountains of New Mexico. Took them three weeks to find it.   The third attempt in August blew up 5 minutes into the flight.
