We lit our first fire of the season last night.  Two of our dogs took turns laying in front of it.

Robbie, the old Scottie...almost totally deaf now

Pepper, the foster that stuck...almost totally blind.

ok, so i know facebook is the debil  Wink but i think this is a really cool concept
http://www.facebook.com/DogsonDeployment?ref=stream

theres also a website for non-facebook users
http://www.dogsondeployment.org/

so what they do is they match people in the military that have animals & are being deployed & have no place to keep their pets with other people in their area that are willing to care for their pets during the duration of the deployment.

Robert, I somehow didn't see your post. Are there any special accommodations you make for your blind pup?

hey sac.. my dog Sara was blind the last few years before she passed... she got startled when she was touched and didn't know you were there, so i always tried to make noise when i approached her..she actually got around pretty well, although there was the occasional running into walls... i kept her food and water in the same place so she always knew where it was...she actually handled it really well

Well, we have been finding new dog toys! They are for sight impaired children. They have baskets balls and soccer balls with bells and rattles in them! Fritzy is as he is and I think he will come through this just fine! He is a great blind puppy  Smiley I am so happy he is adjusting so well. His brother Bogart is doing really well with Fritz running into him randomly and pawing at him!

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw that—it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.
