I need help with a dog issue figured somebody here might have an answer.
I have a Male Olde English Bulldogge who is 6-1/2. He has never been the sharpest crayon in the box but we love him none the less. Over the last 6 months he has started to become a very serious grump. Mostly in the evening when we are winding down for the day he will start growling and snarling. If you tell him to go to his place and sit it turns to snapping and Cujo-esc actions. Sometimes he will be sound asleep and just wake up growling.
We have tried being the "pack leader" and I try not to yell (I'd never hit him, don't believe it does any good) but I am running out of patience with him. We have also tried ignoring him hoping he would just stop but not helping.
He has been fixed since he was a puppy and never had a bad day in his life. our Female (8 years old OEB) is perfect, almost to a fault.

My suggestion would be to roll him over onto his back when he does that. If he resists be firm and even growl back a bit. Let him know that you control his fate. Sounds like doggy Alzheimer though as he seems to have forgotten who the boss is.
It is also possible he is in some kind of pain, back issues etc etc. Have him checked out if the roll over and be my pregnant dog thing does not work out.
I have a Wolf that I got at three months old and he was ruined by the PO's. It took four months of battles before I nearly choked him out from a full rear guard. He has been the most incredibly wonderful pup in the world since.
If you dog forgot your the boss is might be a medical issue.

1st thing I would do is take him to the vet for a full check-up, which should include blood work if nothing is immediately evident to the vet. Dogs that turn grumpy are often in some kind of pain from an illness that can't be seen.

Check and see if he had a stroke.
