Lucy has been gimpy for a couple of days, not always putting weight on her back right leg. Today she has a red and swollen spot on the rear left foot and a weird looking eruption on the right.

Vet on Thursday.  bang head bang head bang head bang head bang head bang head

Infection maybe.

Looks a bit similar to one my dog got, but it was on the upper portion (knuckle) of the toe.

Bud would get infected feet - large swelling - I would soak his foot in a bucket of warm water with Betadine Iodine solution.  Usually cleared it up in a day or so.  Work the solution and squeeze around the infected area while soaking.  It was always a two person operation with Bud - 120 lbs of pissed off Chesapeake is a handful.  That Betadine Iodine is great for lots of stuff.  I have never had a wound get infected while using it.  Doesn't sting, cheap and effective.

Thanks everyone!!  I will get some more pics up later.

We were told Dakota is a Lab, Heeler, Aussie Shepherd mix.  The POS PO left her outside all the time in a tiny pen with a ramshackle shelter that only had a roof.  No protection from the -20F weather we just had.    bang head

Poor girl didn't even know what a tennis ball was.  I also think she was beaten.  Angry Angry

Luckily she is quite smart and wants to take direction.  It's amazing to me how they can be neglected and abused, yet still be willing to love unconditionally.  She will get lots of love in this household!!

We are all very fortunate to have found each other.   waytogo

LMT -

Best wishes to Lucy.  I hope her little foot heals up in short order.

The very best dogs are rescues.  They know and appreciate their new owners not just going for a new puppy.

Our rescue cat was awesome. Our kitten out of the paper was awesome too. Both our dogs I purchased. They are great too. All animals are great and appreciate a good home.

4 years ago today, Owen had his last day on this earth. He was a good dog. He loved sweets, the foam on a latte, and remembered every raccoon sighting ever!  He was part St. Bernard and Brittany Spaniel. He weighed in at about 115 pounds. He thought he was a lap dog  laughingdp
