big hugs to my friends in santa barbara

 :'(

bye bye bogart

Thanks Joel. And thanks for being so great with all of our dogs.

We are just devastated. He was such a unique dog. Right now we are just hoping that little blind Fritzy-Pants handles it okay. A fire truck drove by yesterday and he let out the most pitiful howl.

Mission had his last heartworm injection, so should be free of those in a couple of weeks.  The vet says to keep him calm and on exercise restriction, but those two states are beyond Mission's comprehension.  Crappy cellphone picture of a rare moment of stillness.

Thanks everyone. We are just heart broken.

Yeah IZ, you met that big silly guy.

The circumstances just suck. We went away on a short trip and boarded the two pups at a really nice place we've been using for years. On the last day they were there Bobo slipped a disc. When we got home on Saturday night we thought his arthritis was sore and he was tired from playing so much. By Sunday morning we had to help him stand up. By Sunday evening he couldn't stand at all. We took him to the vet first thing Monday after being up with him all night. The surgeon diagnosed a slipped disc. An already iffy surgery was made inadvisable due to his severe arthritis and him being a giant breed dog. We took him home and laid with him and cried a lot, hoping for a miracle. Instead his pain became unbearable. On Tuesday morning we took him back to the vet and said goodbye.

He was an incredibly unique dog. I still can't believe he's really gone.
