Jake & Elwood ....... 2 1/2 years old brothers... Our mission in life is to keep our master busy!!!!!! We can open doors, even the front door( we now get dead bolted in when Dave leaves the house). Everything our master does to keep us on his property is futile...It takes us on average 15 min. to figure out how to foil his new attempts. We hate getting put in the basement ,when it's raining out he locks our dog door, to show our displeasure we've eaten a $300 Titleist tour bag . After that he bought us metal cages to keep us in when it rains, that lasted 3 hours( we bent the bottom of the metal cage up with the door still locked) Then managed to  tear down the old door he nailed to the steps to keep us away from his golf clubs, Other than that we have a really really good life. Were extremely good natured dogs and would not harm a soul despite the general publics view of our breed.... Were like any other breed ( it's the upbringing ) . Our breed started getting the bad rap after 101 Dalmatians. People were buying us and not knowing what they were getting into,Were extremely energetic and bull headed, not a good breed for somebody that is clueless to dogs.On top of that we don't stay small forever!!!!!!!!

Dave saved us from being put down. Our former owner had us living in a 6x6 cage outside,we never got to leave it. She could not find us a new home because Elwood is deaf and she would not split us up. We were destine to be put down until a vet., that knew Dave used to raise and show Dals. , found out about us and made a call to him. We've adjusted well to living indoors, Elwood now knows around 18 hand signals and functions like a hearing dog and i've got a huge break from constantly looking out for him so now I've had time to develop my own personality.

P.s. Thanks for changing our names from Max & Rookie!!!!!!!

Elwood (Left) Jake (right) <<<Yes we have an uncanny knack for always being mirror images of eachother>>>

Waited too long on that litter.  I just got a number for a litter of fawn Great Dane pups today.  Calling on them now.

Here ya go Adam.  They specialize in Danes.  waytogo

http://www.pawsofaustin.org/

They have a couple nice looking ones available...and they'll get over the shyness/afraid of men thing quicky when shown some love. When we got Emma she was so nervous she'd hide in a room if anyone new came over. It took our dog walker 3 weeks to convince her to go on a walk with her! She was also very leery of men.  Now she's about as social as dogs come, and is no longer afraid of anyone.  waytogo

Sorry man...ya I read about Grant as well.  Poor guy...sounds like the surgery went well though.  waytogo  I routinely donate to local rescues to help with the animal care.  Smiley

There was another Dane rescue story in your area where a brindle puppy was abused (very young...extremely poor hygiene & living conditions), then eventually had to be euthanized because he had distemper which had begun affecting his nervous system. The make the beast with two backstard breeder didn't think it was important to treat his animals properly OR get them vaccinated.  People can be assholes.
