Ok...back to our fur-kids. I know I showed some pics already but I can't resist, she's my joy!
Close up of her big browns...
Good times at the dog park...
The first day I brought her home from the rescue...

Corey, I know you have met Scott in person, and I hear from people I *know* (met in real life and are good people) that Scott is a nice, stand-up guy in person. I don't doubt that, the sources that I heard that from are good people.
He *does* have a very abrasive online personality, and he does stir shit up. Talking about shooting dogs and how certain breeds shouldn't be allowed to be in public places-period, is something you don't bring up in a thread unprovoked.
His tone the whole time he has been here has been abrasive and cavalier. I can do without the arrogance and the disdain he clearly shows for many members here. (DML history, ect)
---
I'm done talking about this in *this* thread. This is a thread for Dog lovers
. If you want, we can take this to pm's

I was almost licked to death by a Rottie
I knew a Rottie that would carry a plastic sled up to the top of a hill, sit in it, ride down, repeat.
I think he was doing it so he could catch and kill children.
No, really it was the funniest thing, that dog was such a funny dog in so many ways. Just a big baby.

Hmm.
Hmm indeed...
But if we can get back to the dogs discussion.
I think Scott's got some real points behind his argument - it's pretty clearly true that different dog breeds tend towards certain "personalities", and while the "nature vs nurture" argument has some merits, there's another point I'd like to make which is that the physical charcteristics of some dog breeds make the risks associated with ownership of them higher. Nobody's going to be to fussed about an aggressive daschound or corgi, but an aggressive staffy or rottie is _much_ more serious. As a dog-lover-but-not-dog-owner, I'd be sad to see individual breeds targeted as being permitted or not permitted in public, but I _could_ probably be convinced that there might need to be some stricter controls and responsibilities associated with ownership of certain breeds or sizes of dogs.

+1. Nurture goes so far.
Anyone have a sibling who just turned out rotten? Same upbringing as yourself? It's not always the owner.

Only time I've been seriously bitten was by a Basset Hound.

My sister got bitten by a Basset once, I can't blame the dog though, she _did_ reverse her tricycle into it...

Hmm, I had been standing in a field talking to the owner for a few minutes, the basset (off-leash) then ran up, bit me in the leg, and ran off again. I was totally ignoring it.
