My little guy is getting bigger!
Now almost 13 weeks old and weighs just under 14 pounds (was just over 8 at 8 weeks old).

Here's our 15-year old Shar Pei, Ruffles, on Christmas day, posing with his portrait! My sister painted this of him sleeping in his favorite bean-bag chair (where he's happily snoring as I type):
He's nearly deaf, nearly blind, but doesn't seem to realize that he's not a puppy anymore and is one amazingly happy, good-hearted dog. Don't know if it's typical of Shar Peis, but he's actually LESS wrinkly now than when he was a young'un.

These are our boys, 3 Mackenzie River Huskies. These dogs were bred by Athabaskan Indians. There not many of them left.
Toughest dogs in the world. They can work all day, skip a meal, get water from snow, sleep out at -60, and get up the next morning without coffee an be happy to work some more.
Skijor racing at -5.

Great looking dogs. The one on the right in the last picture looks like a bear.
He is my old man, Kipmik. 10 years old. He weighs about 115 lbs and in his younger days could pull 2200 lbs on a sled from a dead start. He save my life twice. 1st time he pulled me home in the middle of a storm when I couldn't find the trail or see the hand in front of my face. The next time he ran off a bear that was about to have me for breakfast.

Hey AK! Thanks for posting those pics. All of those dogs..especially Kipmik..have to be some of the most beautiful dogs I have ever seen! What an awesome breed!
Ha..google search pulled this up. Are they known for being good guard dogs? I know they chase off bears!
