I can finally participate in these dog threads, now that I have a dog  ;D Here's our Elzie. 4 month old long haired dachshund. Had her for a month, and for a dachshund puppy she's very good.

LMT

Our dog Rocky is a Lab/Hound mix and has sever allergies and skin cancer. We got him last August from the Humane Society. He weighted 87 pounds, had black skin and very little hair. The huge shaved spots from the 4 cancer surgeries did not help much. He is now a happy and healthy 96 pounds!

He is on First Mate - http://www.firstmate.com/dog_food.aspx?guid=180-BE71895A5E96

It is fish and potato. His skin is now pink with a little black and his hair is great. Soft too!  He does get a bath once a month with a prescription shampoo, Dermazole. That helps too.

After every walk we use a washcloth to wipe his feet, belly and face. Hot water and baking soda. He likes it.

He also takes a lot of meds. Antihistamine every other day, and a steroid every other day. He eats them on his dry food.  We limit his treats to raw carrots and celery. He loves veggies.
It can be a lot of work figuring out what works. We tried 4 or 5 foods before we found one that worked. Luckily, he has never had gas!

Good luck.

SO cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could have participated with or w/o a pup!  Hell, I don't have a Ducati any longer and I'm still here.  (To the chagrin of others.)    ;)

Congrats on the pup - we'll look forward to seeing more pics and reading stories!!    [thumbsup]

B-dawg eats Nature's Logic - Lamb with the probiotics that Stella mentioned earlier.

It works really well for him (he was quite finicky as a pup).

It also got a really good review on the site Triple J mentioned: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/natures-logic-dog-food-dry/

But I'm wondering where the obligatory "Dachshund Puppy in a Hot Dog Bun" photo is?

;D

We have the costume but she's not big enough to fit in it yet! Once I can keep it on her for more than a minute I'll snap a pic.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Watson does well on Natural Balance food.  Grover used to, but after he had a bout with IBD I tried all the different combos, fish and potato, duck and sweet potato, etc etc and the only thing that works for him is Hill's z/d ultra prescription diet which is basically food that has been pre-digested.  It's not cheap though, and we're only buying for a whippet.
Need help posting pictures?  Check out the photo FAQ.

She's already got the "Who, me?" look down.

You're so boned.

Boned indeed!

She's so smart. She will play along with your commands 85% of the time and trick you into thinking you've got her under your spell. When she doesn't want to play along though she'll role out the doggie middle finger and do whatever she wants and pretend you don't even exist. She also knows she's so damn cute and uses that to her advantage.

Good luck Polpetta!! I was wondering how Jasper was doing...hope the "soft" poo is no longer "indoor middle of the night" poo...

Yep, it is when he is sound asleep. He had both going on right now. We took him to the vet, and they gave him med to clear anything that might be in his intestines. (20 days) He is doing it much less but it still happens. He does not have a parasite. So the food thing is the next step in helping him.

Everyone, thanks for suggestions on the food!
