« on: October 22, 2008, 12:47:27 PM »

I'm open to route--I have ones that leave from BART stations and from my house here in East Bay.  I need to be done by 4 so I can go out that evening, but otherwise am wide open for time.  I would ideally like to do a moderate spin, about 40-50 miles.  My pace probably won't be much fun for a brand new rider or for super-competitive types, but  I can hold my own and like to climb.

Any takers?

I've got something set up with one person and anyone who wants to come is invited.  9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Peet's in W.C. near the Sports Basement.  You can take BART there or meet at my house and we'll go over together.   You need to be at my place by 8:15 if you want to join me for the drive over.  Route will have some hills and will be about 30 miles round trip.  Pace will be moderate.  PM me for address if needed.

So 1 possible?  I could probably be talked into Mt. Diablo, too.  We could ride there or drive there and just do the hill.  You can eat all the  bacon you want after that ride.

Darn! I'll be the out of town on the SS 300 Enduro. 300 miles of mud, rocks, blood & beer drink chug... and I'm the lowly support driver. Blah. cheeky

But it's round #2 of the Bay Area Super Prestige Series @ Candlestick Rec Area on the 2nd, if you're interested. waytogo

I was hurtin' plenty after just 100 miles.  I have no desire to ride more than that, thankyouverymuch!  My rides since August have been few and very relaxed.  I'll jump back into it with more gusto in Spring.  For now I just want to lay back and grind up a few mountains over the course of a few hours.   waytogo

Perhaps someday I'll be in good enough shape to join you on a ride. For now I'm just using the bicycle as transportation.

We'll do a low-key ride soon for people that just want a mellow cruise.  I think there's a few of you out there and we should take advantage of the nice weather while we still have it.  Ideas for routes are encouraged.  You can post 'em up here or PM me and I'll start a new thread.   waytogo

Any desire to go over Mt. Tam speaking of Mt's? I haven't been on my lovely mountain in ages.
We could do Alpine dam loop. Hills, ocean view, forest, peaks, it's got it all. One section is pretty steep but terraced for breathers, but most of it is gradual nice climbing. Little to 0 traffic on 80% of it.

It is in my top 10 of all rides you must do before you die. I would say, top 5 even. That beautiful.

If not, I've yet to do Diablo. I'd do that.

Oh, the SS 300 is a moto enduro. [moto] You didn't think we'd be nuts enough to do 300 miles of serious high sierra back-country  without motors, did you? Shocked laughingdp laughingdp laughingdp

See first post - updated.  You waited too long...  cheeky  we will be in the vicinity of Mt. Diablo if you're feelin' froggy.  I haven't decided if I want to do it or not.  I have some things I need to get to before the stores close.

You'd carry a motorcycle for 300 miles for all I know.   laughingdp

I know...guess we should just plan something properly.

Nothing wrong with a little rain...keeps the roads quiet. Wink
