I just finished mounting the V-strom guards a few minutes ago.  Some fiddling, but a good end result.  I'll get some pictures up.

Bump for the pics, Old and Slow!  Just got back from a 30-40 minute ride about town and no matter which gloves I use, that wind is just killer.  As far as aesthetics are concerned, I couldn't give less of a shit what my bike looks like in the winter/rain.  Comfort is key here.

Bill, did you ever find about those Acerbis guards?  I'm getting antsy here.

Well I see from googlin that they show up on a few websites.
Base Hand Guard (Powersports did list them for less $120. They would not come up with a normal search. Damn database... but I did find it hence the update to this post.

LED Option

http://www.motostrano.com/acduroha.html
Motostrano lists them at $140 plain plus $40 for the LED option

There is also a youtube video of them on a suzuki. Not sure if it is for install demo, but it shows different stages of install, not sure you can just remove parts but who knows.
I may go for these.

THIS JUST IN... found some more specs on another page...

My only worry  is how or if this will affect the use of bar end mirrors. We'll see how it goes. Anyway I do have a pair of moose ears (they are freakn huge) that probably serve better as a chest protector than a hand guard. When I bought them, I was on the bike, so I flattened them out and stuck them on my chest/zipped the jacket up. I swear you could have wacked me with a Louisville slugger and I would have shrugged it off. (they are made of formed foam/fabric)

So which site did you order them from? If you ordered the expensive ones I'll order the cheap ones and we can compare.  Wink

The $25 thing is the upgrade to the LED, about the same on either site.

The pricing on the base hand guard is cheaper at powersports.

I ordered from Motostrano. I could not get the powersports site to pull up the hand guard, it would only show the LED option. So today I find it, and it is cheaper there. Oh well.

Edited earlier post to reflect the newly found link.

Yeah, I had problems finding the guard itself on the power sports site too.

The Acerbis look cool but the wind protection seems minimal due to the low profile design.  We'll find out soon from those that bought them.  Hopefully they will rock and then I'm buying.

Ok, so I see a pair of the hand gaurds that are on the Hyper for sale on Sleez-bay. The seller wants like $350 or so. Question is will they fit on an 08' S2R. has any one tried this. There are a couple of topics out there as to "get moto hand gaurds" they keep the wind off the hands. I like the idea and i also like the fact that I would get bar-end  mirrors all in one. With the turn signals built in. If any one has done this, please post pics.

How about an old school solution:  Hippo hands and electrically heated grip wraps?  The solution is not pretty, but both items can be removed when the weather warms up, and meanwhile you can ride with summer gloves.  See:
