I saw a couple of very cool home-made covers in the "show me your clutch covers" thread, are there any more out there?  I want to make my own, and I have a drill press, hacksaw, dremel, and a another spare cover (so those are the limits of my fabrication ability!).  Here's my first attempt (before painting):

Any ideas or suggestions for improvement?

Suggestion - paint it, mount it.  Looks great!  Nice work on the radial holes that straddle the ridge.

As a 1st go - that looks pretty good.

With the tools you list, there's a lot of potential.  For example, MonsterMash has made at least 1 'Dynamic D' covers.  Basically cutting out 90+% of the center circle and leaving a strip on metal... and tah-dah the ducati logo.

Depending on your willingness to commit time, some ideas might be:
Ducati Logo
- One of the retro logos
- The 'Campioni del Mondo' laurels
- Some other geometric pattern - tons of influences for this, Celtic, Mid-East, Japanese prints and on and on

Also somthing else to think about would be multiple paint colors or finishes.  Back to the 'Mash example - the stock paint was stripped and the metal polished then Powder coated w/ translucent red

OEM, no holes, but two-tone color (silver with candy red over top half):

a little off-topic, i know, but i had a black anodized aluminum cover engraved with
the ducati flying-D design by a shop called 'axljak' ... you can find it on the web.

came out very nice, and only one of its kind i've ever seen.
